5 Steps to Hiring Your Next Home Cleaner

happy family in clean house cleaned by home cleanerOur friend’s story is like so many: she’s a full-time working mom with no time to keep up with her home.  She has no time at night or on the weekends to tackle her huge cleaning list.  It’s time to hire a home cleaner.  If you’re like her, or you travel a lot, or you need a cleaner because you are injured or sick, the next question is, “how do I hire a cleaner for my home?”  We’ve given you a step-by-step guide that’ll make your decision to hire a home cleaner an easy one.

Make a list

Everyone has a different list of cleaning tasks they need help with.  We had a friend who hired a home cleaner to only clean her bathrooms because she didn’t have time (and hated cleaning bathrooms). Another busy colleague hired a cleaning service to help with her endless supply of laundry. Before you hire a home cleaner, know what you need help with and how often you need the cleaning tasks done so you can get an accurate quote.

Set a schedule

One of the cons of an individual home cleaner is that they usually set their own schedule, whereas a home cleaning service can clean your home on the schedule you specify. Determine how often you need the tasks on your list done (i.e. once/week, once/month, several times/week), and when is the best time for cleaning (i.e. early mornings, evenings, lunch, etc.)

Interview your cleaning services

Ask your friends for referrals or look online for local cleaning services.  Before you hire the cheapest or first home cleaning service you call, ask the cleaning service for information about their proof of insurance just in case any items in your home are damaged. Look for online reviews and ask the service for references.  A cleaning service can provide references from present clients who use their services.

Request a quote

Be prepared to discuss the cleaning jobs you need completed, your preferred schedule, their policy for any pets in your home, and any other special request you may have.   Ask for a full quote to ensure that you get the cost including any additional fees.

Enjoy a cleaner, more organized home

One of the main perks of hiring a cleaning service is being able to spend your off-time off.  Once you have a set cleaning schedule, enjoy a clean and more organized home.
