Spring Cleaning Checklist for Your Cabin

Spring in Wisconsin means warmer temperatures (though we know that comes later at your cabin in northern Wisconsin), flowers blooming and a countdown to fun family weekends on the lake at your cabin. The season also means spring cleaning your cabin (and boat!) that has sat vacant since Labor Day. Cleaning your cabin and readying it for guests and fun family weekends is a task that needs to be done quickly and efficiently—which can be done as long as you use our spring cleaning checklist for your cabin:

  • Airing out cabin.
  • Washing comforters, sheets and quilts.
  • Making beds.
  • Cleaning your appliances (including the dishwasher, fridge, washer or stove).
  • Spider web removal.
  • Window cleaning.
  • Dusting ceiling fans and washing light fixture coverings.
  • Blind and curtain cleaning.
  • Clean the top of cabinets.
  • Cleaning bathroom counter(s).
  • Carpet and floor cleaning.
  • Power washing your cabin.
  • Vent cover cleaning.
  • Fireplace stone/tile and mantle clean up.
  • Cleaning sliding door tracks.
  • Scrub down showers.
  • Dust inside of cabinets.
  • Putting pier in lake.
  • Cleaning boat or jet skis.
  • Checking water toys for holes.
  • Washing outside chairs and table.
  • Inventorying and adding wood to your wood pile (if needed).

If you don’t have a spare weekend to prep for your family weekend at the cabin, or if your guests are planning to arrive at your cabin earlier than planned, contact us about scheduling a spring cleaning for your cabin. One simple call can take your spring cleaning checklist and boil it down to one box. That means one box to check off your spring cleaning checklist for your cabin so you can have fun during your family weekends at the lake.

Spring Cleaning Checklist

It’s clear to spring has come to Wisconsin. The temperatures are rising, snow is thawing and the spring mud is threatening our homes. That’s right: threatening. While Wisconsinites love spring, trying to keep your home clean and tackle spring cleaning among the mud is a challenge for even the most fastidious homeowner. What’s even more of a challenge is trying to stay organized in your spring cleaning efforts (and to keep your family on task).

Take a deep breath. Don’t worry. We’ve come up with a spring cleaning checklist suitable for most Wisconsin homeowners so you can check off your finished spring cleaning tasks:

  • Cleaning your appliances (including the dishwasher, fridge, washer or stove).
  • Removing spider webs.
  • Window cleaning.
  • Dusting ceiling fans and washing light fixture coverings.
  • Blind and curtain cleaning.
  • Clean the top of cabinets.
  • Grout cleaning.
  • Carpet and floor cleaning.
  • Power washing your house.
  • Vent cleaning.
  • Washing comforters and quilts.
  • Fireplace stone/tile and mantle clean up.
  • Cleaning sliding door tracks.
  • Scrub down showers.
  • Dust inside of cabinets.

If you are a fastidious homeowner who doesn’t have time to clean up that spring mud, and get all the other essential spring cleaning tasks done, contact a professional cleaner who can give your home a deep spring clean. Enjoy your finished checklist of spring cleaning tasks, and then head outside with your fellow Wisconsinites to enjoy the warm spring temperatures.

Having no luck hiring a quality home cleaner?

You shouldn’t need luck to hire the right home cleaner. We’ve all heard the horror stories about someone who hired a friend of a friend to clean their home, and the arrangement ended in disaster. The friend of a friend didn’t show up. The friend of a friend didn’t do their job. The friend of a friend broke in with other friends. So what should you look for when you hire a home cleaner? We’ll give you a hint: it’s not a lucky rabbit’s foot, it’s a home cleaner with the following qualities:

  • Dependable cleaner(s) that show up. One of the disadvantages of hiring an individual to clean your house is the “just-in-case” scenarios. What do you do just-in-case your cleaner gets sick? What do you do just-in-case your cleaner goes on vacation for two weeks when you have your kids’ birthday party schedule? A cleaning service has back-up cleaners available to come clean when those just-in-case scenarios kick in—back-up cleaners with the same attention to detail and cleanliness.
  • Flexible cleaners. We’re not talking about acrobats; we’re talking about cleaners who can do what you want when you want it. Hiring a cleaning service gives you the flexibility to bring in cleaners when you need to do the cleaning tasks you need.
  • Cleaners that fit your budget, and your schedule. Your home cleaner should be able to come when you need. If you want to minimize the cost of the home cleaner through a home cleaning service, shorten your list of cleaning tasks. A cleaning service can adjust the schedule and scope of work easily, so you can be easy on your budget and still have a clean house.

Hire a home cleaning service with home cleaners that have all these qualities and can provide quality service in your Dodge or Jefferson County home. ZBM Clean has professional home cleaners that can keep your home clean no matter how busy you get, whenever you need. All you have to do is contact them to set up a schedule today.

Get a Jump on Home Spring Cleaning

No matter what the ground hog predicted, spring fever is in the air.  Wisconsin residents are ready for the warm spring temperatures, even though winter is in full force. While we can’t bring you spring, we can bring you spring cleaning tasks you can tackle even in the middle of our cold Wisconsin winter—spring cleaning tasks that are sure to bring hope for spring:

  1. Winter is an ideal time to sort, organize and clear out unwanted clutter. A few minutes of organizing and cleaning a day, or a few hours on one day, can keep your home neat, tidy and free of clutter.
  2. Remove cob webs. It’s amazing how even if you don’t see a spider, webs seem to magically appear throughout your home. Take a good broom to those pesky cob webs, and a towel to clean the walls around the web if needed.
  3. Clean tile grout. For tile in your bathroom or kitchen, give your tile a good washing and your grout a good scrubbing. Tile can be wiped down with a soft, non-abrasive cloth; grout should be cleaned with a brush specially produced for the project. Use water for mild dirt, or a vinegar-water mixture to lift the stains.
  4. Wash the inside of your windows. No one wants to be outside in the biting winds getting frostbite from our cold Wisconsin winter. Go after the problem from the inside; use a soft non-abrasive cloth for wiping the glass. Use a second rag to wipe down the window frame (do this before cleaning the glass).
  5. Blind and curtain cleaning. As long as you’re cleaning the window, you might as well clean the blinds and curtains too, right? Use a long narrow duster for plastic blinds, or spray and wipe down with a cloth. Throw washable curtains in the wash machine to give them a much-needed clean.

If you don’t have time for spring cleaning now or even in the spring, hire a professional cleaner to give your home a deep clean. We can’t give you spring, but we can give you a spring cleaning that makes you feel like it’s spring—even with a foot of snow outside.

5 Valentine’s Day Gifts Your Sweetheart Will Love

All right all you Valentine’s-Day-gift-procrastinators: time is getting short, and it’s time to decide on a gift for your sweetheart. If you’re racking your mind for a gift idea, we have some traditional and unique Valentine’s Day gift ideas your sweetheart is guaranteed to love:

  1. Flowers & chocolates. You can’t get more traditional than this. Stop on your way home or have the flowers and chocolates delivered as a surprise.
  2. Tickets to her favorite activity. Does she like the theatre? A day at the spa? A sporting event? Is her favorite band coming to town? Surprise her with tickets (perhaps hidden in a box or flowers).
  3. No housecleaning! Give her the gift of not doing a weekly cleaning, or doing laundry, or mopping the floor. Call ZBM Cleaning and pre-pay for weekly or monthly cleanings, and let your sweetheart set up the cleaning schedule. She can even choose what cleaning chores she wants to the cleaner to do.
  4. Jewelry. Again, you can’t more traditional than a beautiful necklace, ring or bracelet for your favorite Valentine.
  5. A vacation to your cabin without the spring cleaning. Is your sweetheart stressed about finding the time to spring clean your cabin before your summer trips up north, or before your renters arrive? Contact a local cleaning company about setting up a cabin cleaning without your or your sweetheart having to travel.

We can’t help with the flowers and chocolates or gifts 2 & 4, but we can assist with gifts 3 & 5. Call ZBM Clean to set up your sweetheart’s gift (without her finding out!), and make her Valentine’s Day a special, clean-free day.

5 BIG Questions to Ask When Hiring a Cleaning Service

When hiring a cleaning company for your home or business, you’ve got questions about your residential or commercial cleaning service and what to expect. We understand, and have answers for you when it works for you—just like our cleaners who provide quality cleaning when you need it:

Do I have to be there when the cleaner is there?

No and yes. It’s up to you. Homeowners or business personnel do not have to be present when our cleaners come in for cleaning. We do ask that you secure pets or animals when our cleaners come in, and provide a secure entrance system. If we’re cleaning carpets or floors we prefer that you do not stay (or perhaps hide in your office and read a good book!) for safety reasons.  We don’t want you to slip on a wet floor or trip on a hose.

Who supplies cleaning products?

Our cleaning cost includes all chemicals and equipment.  However, if you have a specific cleaning product you want us to use, that would have to be provided by you.

How often does the cleaner come?

Our cleaners are flexible. We can set regular cleanings based on your schedule, or come in and clean before you have a family holiday or company event. For businesses, our cleaners are also available during your company’s off hours, giving you a clean office or work area for your employees when they arrive. Some of our accounts are served 7 days per week and some are upon request.  We work within your budgets!

Do they do whole-home or business cleanings every time?

What do you need? Our cleaners can clean only the bathrooms or floors, or give your home or business a deep, “white-glove” clean every time. We can also establish quarterly or annual cleanings of your duct work, windows and blinds.  You decide on your cleaning and maintenance needs and wants. We work with you to set the cleaning schedule and scope at a cost that fits your budget.

Breaking through the Home Cleaning Service Myths

Myths about home cleaning services are about as common as stoves in kitchens. You’ve heard them: you have to be rich to hire a home cleaning service, you have to be home when the cleaners come, blah, blah, blah.  Before you listen to the naysayers when you’re overwhelmed with, well, life, take a deep breath. Then break through the talk and find out the truth about those pesky home cleaning service myths:

You have to be rich to hire a cleaning service. Not true!  Hiring a cleaning service is far more affordable than the myth implies. In addition, the old adage “time is money” rings true when considering whether to hire a cleaning service. Do you make more money working at your own business or cleaning your house? Do you want to spend every minute of your time away from the office cleaning your house?

Cleaners clean the whole house. Home cleaning services are flexible. If you only want the cleaners to clean the high traffic areas, or just the bathrooms and kitchens, contact the cleaning service and specify the jobs you want done. They clean the areas you want, when you want.

You have to be home when the cleaners come. You don’t have to be home when the cleaners come. Just call your cleaning service and make the necessary arrangements for entry.

You have to hire a cleaner to come on a daily basis. How often do you need or want a cleaner to come? You can arrange for a weekly, monthly or quarterly clean—or even just when you have guests coming to visit. Cleaning services come when you want, on your schedule.

People who hire cleaning services are lazy. Not sure where this myth came from, but let’s be serious. Homeowners who hire cleaning services understand what their time is worth, and where to put their efforts. Working, volunteering or being with their kids is a higher life priority.

Have any more questions? Contact your local cleaning service. They can give you truthful information straight from the source. A cleaning service can also provide references and give you an estimate so you have a clear idea of cost. With a little bit of research (and a lot of breaking through the home cleaning service myths), you can achieve your goal of a clean house without sacrificing your professional or family commitments.
